Finally, the lounge situation is night and day - departing Tom Bradley, DL Biz gets you into the KAL lounge which is very spartan, while Virgin gets you the Emirates lounge, with free flow Veuve Clicquot. There is also a bar/lounge in the middle of business class, where I spent a few hours sipping champagne and chatting with the purser. Virgin Australia 777 - LAX-SYD - Both DL and Virgin fly the 777 on this route, but the Virgin configuration is much more spacious - even though the seating is 1-2-1 on both, the Virgin seats are somehow wider, with the seat fully reclined I sat cross legged and worked on my laptop, D1 seats are far too narrow for this. SQ Wifi is also free up front, you just enter your seat number and lastname, like a hotel portal.ĪNA 787 - BKK-HND - This was in premium economy, but the service was on par with DL Biz (Japanese service standards never disappoint) - having a bidet function in an airplane lavatory was also pretty interesting. I used to fly DL 767's between Japan and Singapore, after trying SQ's product I'd have a very hard time going back to DL. Singapore Airlines A350 - HND-SIN - Business class seat was like a throne, the cabin service, food and beverage offerings, absolutely put Delta to shame. I hit Diamond pretty early this year and have been trying different carriers, especially in Asia, some of the experiences make me feel like Delta has been abusing me all of these years. I think that’s what keeps me coming back!! Unfortunately this marked the second time I had a malfunctioning seat in business class on the 767, although the first time there were a lot of open seats so I just moved one over.Īll complaints aside, the one thing Delta does right are the warm chocolate chip cookies they serve mid-flight.

Otherwise I would have been out of luck as it was a full flight. I flew back from LHR yesterday on a 767-300 and my (D1) seat wouldn’t recline - after several attempts the flight attendants and myself were finally able to get it working. The majority of the time I’m on 767-300s which just aren’t that inspiring (321s are a step up) - there have been a few flights where I flew back on Virgin Atlantic and AirFrance, both of which were newer planes and made the difference that much more noticeable. I’ve flown almost a dozen times internationally on Delta One this year (from BOS), and overall I’ve been a bit disappointed with how outdated the cabin is even compared to other SkyTeam airlines.
